How our Steam US price tracking works
Source-linked US Steam prices in USD, with observation dates and coverage. Tracked-low alerts are being prepared.
What we track
Paid base games on the US Steam Store, priced in USD. We cross-check Steam app details with its default single-game purchase package, or a verified US storefront purchase option, and keep the exact package ID. Editions, DLC, bundles, free games and free weekends are excluded.
What the history means
Every point is a price observed by GameVigil at the displayed UTC time. Coverage begins at the first stored observation for that package, and gaps remain unfilled. The lowest observed price is limited to this coverage; it is not a lifetime all-time-low claim. A package change starts a separate comparable history.
Freshness and failures
The hourly collection task checks verified chart candidates and manually approved requests when due. A run checks up to 50 games within 40 seconds; a large queue may take further runs. Prices older than two hours, failed rechecks and expired promotions are labelled. We preserve the last successful observation. Always confirm the current price and your account eligibility on Steam.
How games enter tracking
You can request a game by name, App ID or Steam link. A reviewer must check and approve each request before collection starts. This stage does not publish automated low-price alerts. Steam’s official Global Top Sellers chart supplies automatic candidates by worldwide revenue. Reviews use the public IUserReviewsService across all languages and purchase types, with Steam’s default off-topic filter. Rules are being evaluated privately in shadow mode; prices remain US/USD.
